I always find it surprising how ignorant people can be on this topic, by insulting those who are trying to fight this inequality. I'm very lucky, I'm near the top tax bracket, and have no debt (and yes I work very hard for my money) - but it really bothers me to look around and see that people like my parents can't make it in today's world. An education is not the answer, it helps but its not the answer. The Have-Mores have definitely bought their wealth, usually these are not execs but these are the real movers and shakers that run the country (i.e., the Dick Cheneys who can get gov't contracts with incredible profits and no bidding by competitors - wish I could get just 1% of one of those contracts, I'd love to sell 6-packs to the military at 3x retail).

Executive comp. is a huge problem as well however, and it bothers me that average workers can justify/argue that exec comp is set by the market then they want to trample all over laborers that want to unionize. Its absurd/borderline stupid. Laborers have ZERO say at the table of wages/pay. Whereas execs get their salary set by other execs (board of directors). Do you think any board is going to set a precedent that an executive is over-paid? HECK NO, lest they find themselves on the similar side of the argument at some point - we need to get real about the process of how executives get compensated (lets not even mention their golden parachutes). To add insult to injury, the average person that owns stocks probably owns the bulk in their 401k, which means they don't even get to vote the shares (i.e., if I wanted to tell a company who's stock I own via my 401k that their exec is overpaid I have no mechanism to do this, yet I'm helping to pump up the options/compensation for the very same clown). Talk about insult to injury. Somehow, I'm not sensing the free-market at work with the way our system has been rigged.

Just my thoughts anyhow, I do think at some point the working class is going to have to take to the streets to be heard.

Even Republican office holders are breaking out the ten-foot sticks now that Romney's gone with the Ayn Rand worshipper.

Yes, Obama's still the pits, but Romney-Ryan is strictly from pit shit.

Arkansas will have medical marijuana on the ballot this fall. Arkansas.

We're winning, however incrementally, and never forget -- once the revolution is over, we get to shoot the socialists (who, according to the right, are the O'centrists so yes, that works for me).

I appreciate your singing that old song, "We're Finally Gettin' It!" I've sung it myself from time to time. The trouble is that the outrage comes but then it just goes again and everybody just sighs and accepts the situation as inevitable. Remember the Good Old Days when Occupy Wall Street had us thinking the revolution was just around the corner? Great, weren't they? The song should be re-written to "We Act Like We're Gettin' It But We really Don't Get It At All."

I think people are finally getting mad. I left a snarky comment at Charlie Pierce's on his post about Ryan as Romney's pic, and when I checked back a few hours later I had 54 likes!

Once the reality of this drought settles in and food prices start spiking, more people are going to learn that what's wrong with this country has nothing to do with libruls, and everything to do with "conservative" values that reward paper pushers on Wall Street.
